Yaye! The Brackenwood series is a Webby Awards Official Honoree. The news came to me in this morning’s email and I almost lost a mouthful of coffee amongst the keys on the keyboard. Why am I so pleased? Here’s the press release, which I’ll soon be posting on the front page of BiteyCastle.

BRACKENWOOD RECEIVED “OFFICIAL HONOREE” DISTINCTION
FOR THE 12TH ANNUAL WEBBY AWARDS
Brackenwood Recognized by “Oscars of the Internet”
Brackenwood: Webby Honoree
Sydney, NSW - 7th April, 2008 – The Webby Awards, the leading international honor for the Web, today recognized Brackenwood as an Official Honoree, a distinction that recognizes work exhibiting remarkable achievement. The work was produced in November 2007 by one-man animation studio, Adam Phillips of Brackenwood Entertainment here in Sydney.
Hailed as the “Oscars of the Internet” by the New York Times, The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet, including Websites, Interactive Advertising, Online Film & Video, and Mobile Websites. The awards are judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a global organization that includes David Bowie, Harvey Weinstein, Arianna Huffington, Matt Groening, Jamie Oliver, Internet inventor Vinton Cerf, and RealNetworks CEO Rob Glaser.
“The Webby Awards honors the outstanding work that is setting the standards for the Internet,” said David-Michel Davies, executive director of The Webby Awards. “Brackenwood’s Official Honoree selection is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its creator.”
“I’m extremely honoured to receive this award,” Phillips said from his Sydney home studio today. “To me this recognition validates the past 8 years in the dark, slumped and staring into the monitor. I’d like to thank the Webby Awards, Adobe Flash, Brackenwood’s loyal horde of fans and the source of the popularity explosion, newgrounds.com.”
The 12th Annual Webby Awards received nearly 10,000 entries from over 60 countries and all 50 states. Out more than the 10,000 entries submitted, fewer than 15% received this honor and were deemed an Official Honoree.

18Congrats! This is terrific. Although I don’t do any flashes myself and don’t know a thing about it, I love your work! It’s just beautiful. Thanks so much for placing it at newgrounds.com and can’t wait for new material. Congrats again!

19Excellent job, mate! I found Waterlollies on Newgrounds one afternoon and quickly watched every flash animation I could find, on NG and here. I found it to be a beautiful series with amazing artwork and creativity. If I could delve into your imagination for about 5 minutes…. I’ve already tried my hand at Flash Animation recently and found it too difficult, so finding a gem like Brackenwood right after experiencing the skill level needed was pretty cool. Keep on truckin’ mate!
Kudos,
Scott
